So, compete with the Malaysian underwater hockey team that will pay to compete in the Philippine SEA Games from November 30 to December 11.
Each player will pay RM2,500 for their six-day flight and accommodation in Manila.
Underwater hockey, also known as Octopush, is played at the bottom of the pool with two teams competing to manoeuvre with a hockey stick on the opposing team's goal.
This is the first time underwater hockey has been contested at the SEA Games. The sport offers four gold medals - six to six men and women and four to men and women.
A total of 24 players (12 men and 12 women) will appear at the Olympics.
Malaysian Underwater Hockey Association (MUHA) president Ishmael Fadullah Ho Wen Xiong, who will serve as captain of the men's Olympic team, said the sport was rooted in Malaysia eight years ago.
"I learned to play games when I studied at Aberystwyth University in England 10 years ago. When I returned in 2011, I started sports in Malaysia," Ishmael said.
But the association was formed only two years ago by Roshan Babu, who is vice president and head coach.
Underwater hockey is only registered as a sport with the Commissioner of Sports in March this year.
Ishmael said the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) was impressed with the dedication and commitment of the team and agreed to send them under Category B.
"We have trained over 40 players at the PJ Sports Center but we have no international experience," he admitted.
"We were last among 14 teams in the tournament in Manila in March but we were not disappointed.
"Eight players from Aberystwyth University will arrive in August to help train us."
Apart from Malaysia, the other participating countries are Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines.
"The Philippines started out as a team for the gold medal. Singapore and Indonesia will face a tough challenge but we look forward to returning with a bronze," said Ishmael, who will travel to Singapore with the team on June 23 to play a three-country tournament with host and Indonesia.
