Underwater Hockey is an underwater sport with one breath as strong as possible, pass to a friend then take a breath and dive back then accept and bring a puck (ball) using a stick (maximum length of 30 cm) and insert a puck into the goal size of 3 meters.

This game is played by 2 teams of 6 players each with 4 backup players, wherein the game there are no goalkeepers and also no off-side system. This game still requires a referee consisting of 2 underwater referees and 1 main referee on land.

To distinguish a team, it is only seen based on the colour of the stick, namely black and white. The game time needed is 2 x 15 minutes with a field area of 12 M x 21 M.

Equipment needed is Fin, Mask, Snorkeling, Mouthguard, polo caps, and gloves.

This sport was in Jakarta last year and was brought and taught by Christianto Sahat. More details can be seen at http://www.id-uhc.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6:juhcthebeginning&catid=7:juhchistory&Itemid=

In general, this sport for new players has required at least basic skills such as free legs with a fin. Furthermore, skills must be improved by learning to breathe with a snorkel device, then can swim freestyle, duck diving, frog diving and snorkel clearing. Advanced skills such as curl and pass, stealing, blocking, swearf and trick.

Snorkle is a breathing device in the form of a pipe/hose made of plastic is needed because when players look at the bottom of the pool, the player breathes only by using the mouth and in the end, must pay attention to the moving puck (ball).

Freestyle swimming is needed when the basic skills have been fulfilled so it is very necessary freestyle swimming expertise. Because freestyle swimming is needed at the beginning of the game (scramble puck by 2 teams placed in the middle) or useful for chasing opponents when carrying a puck.

Duck dive is swimming, then diving is required when taking puck during a race or chasing an opponent.

Frog diving is simply diving to the bottom without having to swim first, the point is to keep the opponent who will pass through the defence area.

In this game there are rules as well as sticks may not touch the opponent's body or the opponent's stick. Sticks should only touch the puck. It is prohibited to hold the opponent's feet, hands during the game intentionally and other rules.

The Underwater Hockey game in Jakarta already has around 30 active members under the Jakarta Underwater Hockey Club. Training is generally 2 times a week, Monday and Thursday nights, from 19:00 to 21:00 in the Krida Loka Senaya swimming pool. Each active member will be charged a low membership fee of Rp. 75,000 per month. This JUHC activity can be seen on Facebook or on Twitter and also on the website www.id-uhc.org

Jakarta Underwater Hockey Club or abbreviated as JUHC is growing rapidly and with a very enthusiastic leader Christianto Sahat invites the players of the JUHC to try to compete with other countries where JUHC was invited to participate in the Underwater Hockey competition between Asia which was held on the 2nd to 4th December 2011 in Singapore, with participating countries namely Singapore, the Philippines, China, Japan, Australia and Indonesia.
